The Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh 2024, organized by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), has celebrated the remarkable achievements of over 800,000 skilled graduates across India. The event, which took place on a national scale, focused on recognizing the dedication and hard work of individuals who have undergone training under various schemes, including the Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) and Craft Instructor Training Scheme (CITS).

The ceremony was graced by a message from Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who extended his congratulations to the top-performing graduates. His message underscored the significance of the event, noting that it not only commemorates the completion of training but also marks the commencement of a new chapter in the graduates’ careers. The Prime Minister emphasized that the skills acquired by these graduates are instrumental in driving India’s growth and achieving the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).

Held simultaneously at over 15,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and 33 National Skills Development Institutes (NSTIs), the event marks a significant milestone for India’s skilling ecosystem. The central ceremony took place at the Kaushal Bhawan Auditorium in New Delhi, attended by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, the Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The ceremony was also live-streamed to institutions nationwide, reaching over 19 lakh students.

During the event, the Prime Minister highlighted the pivotal role of the youth in India’s development and the global recognition of India as a hub of skilled talent. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing internship opportunities, upgrading technical education, and forging international partnerships to ensure that India’s young professionals have a lasting impact on the global workforce.

The Directorate General of Training (DGT) conducted the All India Trade Test (AITT) for the academic sessions 2023-24 (1-year trades) and 2022-24 (2-year trades), resulting in a pass percentage of 87.34% for more than 19 lakh students across 152 trades. For instructors under the CITS, 9,292 students appeared for the final examination, achieving a pass percentage of 84.73%.

The ceremony also recognized the exceptional achievements of 48 students from CTS and CITS, including All India Toppers and female toppers in hard engineering trades. The participation of Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) at local ceremonies highlighted a collective commitment to skill development across the nation. Minister Jayant Chaudhary expressed his hope that this involvement would inspire young people to view skilling as essential to national growth and self-reliance.

As part of the event, Ms. Preethi Pal, a notable young para-athlete who recently won two bronze medals at the Paralympics, served as the guest of honor. She inspired students by sharing her journey and emphasizing resilience in pursuing goals.

In alignment with emerging technologies, the MSDE announced a new foundational module on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for ITI students, alongside the introduction of updated learning materials under the CITS. These initiatives aim to align the skilling framework with industry demands, preparing students for technology-driven careers.

The Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh celebrates not only the achievements of the graduates but also the unwavering commitment of educators, trainers, and policymakers. Through such initiatives, the MSDE aims to motivate the youth of India to leverage their skills, fostering a prosperous and self-reliant future in line with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
