Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, during an interaction programme on quality engineering education at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), called on the management of private engineering colleges to improve the quality of education in their institutions. This initiative aims to enhance job and livelihood opportunities for students.

Key Highlights from the Programme:

  • Enhancing Education Quality: CM Reddy emphasized the importance of engineering colleges not becoming mere “factories of unemployed youth” and stressed the need for high-quality education to prepare students to make significant societal contributions.
  • Government Support: The government will assist colleges in improving education quality and will ensure the reimbursement of student tuition fees annually as part of the government’s fee reimbursement policy. Additionally, efforts will be made to clear any pending dues.
  • Broad Curriculum: Reddy highlighted the necessity of maintaining traditional engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering, warning that neglecting these courses could lead to national issues. He stressed that colleges should aim to produce well-rounded professionals who contribute across various fields, not just those focused on immediate job market demands.
  • Job Calendar and Exam Postponement Protests: Addressing the protests for the postponement of competitive exams announced by the state government, Reddy alleged that political forces and coaching centres were behind these demonstrations. He assured that the government would release a ‘job calendar’ to promptly fill vacancies.

By focusing on these measures, CM Reddy aims to ensure that engineering colleges in Telangana equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in their careers and contribute meaningfully to society.
