  • Duration: The foundation course lasts for approximately four months.
  • Curriculum:
    • Basic Administrative Training: Officers are introduced to fundamental concepts of administrative services.
    • Subjects Covered: Law, public administration, economics, and Indian politics.
    • Practical Exposure: Trainees participate in various activities, including field trips and tours.

2. Practical Exposure and Field Trips

  • Himalayan Study Tours: Officers undertake tours to the Himalayan region to understand the challenges of administration in diverse geographical settings.
  • Village Tours: Visits to rural areas help officers gain insights into the socio-economic conditions and administrative challenges in villages.
  • India Tour: A 40-day tour across India is organized to provide a comprehensive understanding of rural life and regional issues.

3. Second Phase of Training

  • Return and Reflection: After completing their field trips, officers return to LBSNAA with practical experiences. They share their field stories, challenges, and insights.
  • Advanced Theoretical Training: The second phase involves deepening theoretical knowledge based on their field experiences. For IAS officers, this includes advanced study in:
