New Delhi, March 5, 2025 – On International Women’s Day, vivo India has launched Project ‘vivo KanyaGyaan’, a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The program seeks to address the gender gap in STEM careers, particularly for women from underserved communities, by offering mentorship, skill development, and industry exposure.

Currently, the initiative has impacted 150 women, with over 60% coming from families earning less than ₹1 lakh annually and 15% raised by single parents. By supporting first-generation graduates, vivo India is removing financial and societal barriers, enabling young women to pursue careers in STEM and contribute to India’s technological progress.

Breaking Barriers in STEM

According to Geetaj Channana, Head of Corporate Strategy, vivo India,

“Empowering young women in STEM isn’t just an initiative—it’s a necessity for real progress. Through ‘vivo KanyaGyaan,’ we’re breaking barriers by providing education, mentorship, and opportunities that help them shape their own futures.”

To amplify the program’s impact, vivo India has also launched a digital campaign featuring a symbolic short film, created by FCB India. The film portrays young women carrying their own chairs as a metaphor for determination and self-empowerment, showcasing their journey toward STEM education and career success.

A Future Where Everyone Wins

Highlighting the need for a diverse workforce in STEM, the campaign emphasizes that excluding women means losing half of the nation’s scientific potential. Ashima Mehra, CEO of FCB India, stated,

“When you give a woman the support she needs, nothing can stop her. ‘vivo KanyaGyaan’ proves that empowering women in STEM benefits everyone. It’s not just about opportunity—it’s about unlocking potential, driving innovation, and solving global challenges.”

With participants securing placements in leading companies, the program serves as an inspiration for future generations, reinforcing the importance of education, mentorship, and equal opportunities in STEM fields.
