On International Women’s Day, vivo India launched ‘vivo KanyaGyaan’, a nationwide initiative aimed at empowering young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). The project focuses on mentorship, skill development, and industry exposure, ensuring that women from underserved communities receive the opportunities they need to excel in STEM careers.

Currently, the program is supporting 150 women, with:

  • 60% from families earning less than ₹1 lakh annually
  • 15% raised by single parents

By helping first-generation graduates, vivo is breaking financial and societal barriers, fostering a more inclusive STEM workforce, and driving long-term social progress.

A Campaign for Change: ‘Carrying Their Own Chairs’

To amplify the impact, vivo has launched a digital campaign emphasizing the need for diversity in STEM. The campaign highlights how excluding women in science and technology limits national growth, as nearly half of India’s scientific potential remains untapped.

Developed by FCB India, the campaign film narrates the journeys of young women pursuing STEM careers. Using the powerful metaphor of ‘carrying their own chairs’, it symbolizes determination, resilience, and self-empowerment. The film portrays their challenges, aspirations, and the opportunities that help them shape a better future.

Geetaj Channana, Head of Corporate Strategy, vivo India, stated:

“Empowering young women in STEM isn’t just an initiative—it’s a necessity. Through ‘vivo KanyaGyaan,’ we provide education, mentorship, and opportunities that help them shape their futures. Our Women’s Day campaign film captures this spirit and aims to inspire a larger movement toward empowerment in STEM.”

Unlocking Untapped Potential

The campaign reinforces that a world where women thrive in STEM benefits everyone. Ashima Mehra, CEO of FCB India, emphasized:

“When you give a woman the support she needs, nothing can stop her. ‘vivo KanyaGyaan’ is about unlocking potential, driving innovation, and solving global challenges.”

Set to graduate and secure placements in leading companies, these women serve as an inspiration for future generations, proving that with the right support, they can achieve their ambitions in STEM.
