Workshop for Principals on Supporting Student Well-Being

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently conducted a workshop aimed at enhancing the emotional and psychological health of students, with the participation of 150 principals from CBSE-affiliated schools across Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR). Hosted at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, this initiative seeks to equip school leaders with effective strategies for promoting student well-being.

Key Highlights of the Workshop:

  • Collaborative Efforts: The workshop began with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by remarks from Himanshu Gupta, Secretary of CBSE, who emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in improving student welfare.
  • Challenges in Parenting: CBSE Chairperson Rahul Singh addressed the challenges faced by parents and underscored the active role schools must play in guiding families. He noted that “parenting is a dynamic role with constantly evolving responsibilities,” highlighting the value of intergenerational wisdom in effective parenting and the importance of instilling values that contribute to a child’s happiness.
  • Expert-Led Sessions: The workshop featured sessions led by experts in the field:
    • Rohit Kumar, a Personal Growth Facilitator, discussed the mental and emotional needs of students.
    • Sonia Pillai, an Executive Coach and Interpersonal Skill Trainer, shared practical strategies for fostering open dialogue between parents and their children.
    • Anuradha Joshi, Principal of Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, provided valuable insights on supporting the emotional needs of students.
  • Interactive Q&A Session: The workshop concluded with a Question and Answer round, allowing principals to address specific challenges and share insights on parenting and student stress.

This workshop aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, reinforcing CBSE’s commitment to the holistic development of students and the importance of nurturing their emotional and psychological well-being.
